Gaumen : Rauch, Zitronen-Shortbread, Melone, Schinken. Abgang : Schön ausgewogen: Torfrauch, Zitronenschale, Puderzucker und ein süßes, butteriges Mundgefühl. The Work of Human Hands – S pringbank und die zugehörige Schwesterbrennerei Kilkerran produzieren ihre Single Malts zu 100% handwerklich, traditionell und vor Ort in Campbeltown. Infolge der ursprünglichen Verfahren stehen daher lediglich geringe Produktionskapazitäten zur Verfügung. Jeder Campbeltown Single Malt Whisky aus der Sp ringbank Familie J. & A. Mitchell & Co. Ltd offenbart dabei seinen eigenen Stil durch unterschiedliche Destillationsstufen und Rauchintensitäten. K ilkerran ist ein leicht getorfter, zweifach destillierter Single Malt, der ohne Farbstoff und Kältefiltrierung abgefüllt wird. Die Brennerei Glengyle wurde im Jahr 1873 von William Mitchell gegründet und produzierte einen typischen Campbeltown Malt, bevor sie 1925 scheinbar für immer ihre Tore schloss. 2004 dann die Wiedereröffnung – erneut durch die Nachfahren der Mitchells. Seitdem werden hier leicht getorfte Whiskys unter dem Label Kilkerran produziert. Часть отзывов подчёркивает надёжность и качество, сопоставимое с предыдущими партиями, а также отсутствие карамельных нот как редкую особенность; отдельно отмечается баланс при высокой крепости и сливочно-карамельная нота. Kilkerran Heavily Peated is simply reliable. Since Batch 7 (09/2022), the blend has been 90% ex-bourbon / 10% ex-sherry. And for good reason: a high proportion of bourbon casks simply benefits Kilkerran. This Batch #14 is in no way inferior in quality to its predecessors, but is unique in that it lacks caramel notes. This is a rare phenomenon for Kilkerran and is usually reserved for older bottlings.

A decent dram made for drinking and still available at a decent price - well worth picking a bottle up, rather than just trying it.

Нос	84	Old leather boots that have recently walked through a farmer's field - the peat is more claggy than smoky or medicinal.
Вкус	85	The mouthfeel is good as there is a bit of body to it - the taste opens with a nutty, funky note with the alcohol providing a pleasant heat in the background - the peat seems to dance around the sides, but again more of an earthy note. A decent dram.
Финиш	85	Medium - I get a lingering nutty note (almost like fresh walnut), some sweetness and that gentle peat note.

A very agressive smokey whisky, the smoke is more charcoal and barbeque smoke than the traditional peaty one. The whisky also have slme sweetness hiding underneath it and becemes quite smooth in the finish.

Финиш	88	A long finish that starts of with an agressive smokiness but than turns into something sweet and smoth, with some hints of smoke.

Heavy indeed, it's a real treat for the taste buds: Smoky, vanilla, spicy, malty nose reminiscent of summer stubble, buttery caramel, and macerated stewed fruit. Smoky mouthfeel, with hints of smoked bacon and peppery spices. The finish is marked by spices, candied lemon, a touch of acidity, and iodine. A maritime, grassy, caramelized dram, it really stings from beginning to end; I'd like to add a drop of water, but the macerated fruits don't make you forget the fire in your mouth!

It's a nice, raw, barrel-smoked scotch. Quite spicy, with a reasonable price-performance ratio. Personally, I like the 12-pack the best out of all the batches.

Who would've guessed a KK Heavily Peated gets a 88p. absolution from me. While earlier batches I got to try were never really bad they lacked a certain maturity, balance, and overall "stand-alone-"personality in my opinion. I always rather preferred the 12 or 8 CS in that regard - and I still do - but I can with this batch whole-heartily say that the balance is there reg. the high proof, a creamy caramel note accompanies a whisky that does not feel too young to have been bottled. If they now finally decide to stick an age to it as they did with the original WIP series resulting in the 12 yo, the possibilites are endless... XD Try if you were like me reg. previous bottles and judge for yourself!
