Good for mixing, but nothing more. Pure in my eyes no pleasure.
This is the real deal. It's all about taste and preferences, but Double Oak really blew my mind. Classic at it's best. This is how burboun should be made.

As Scottie might say: "It's whiskey Jim, but not as we know it". Interesting, but not a great fan of bourbon.

Two Barrels This Double Oak version from Jim Beam was launched in 2016. As the name suggests it is matured in not one, but two barrels, freshly charred. The nose is honeysweet on vanilla sugar, caramel, hint of fruit tea and coconut milk, hazelnuts, menthol and bitter oranges, but there is also some nail polish remover there (and no, Dearly Beloved is not doing her nails right now). Some melon and banana maybe? Okay-ish. On the palate I first get spices like nutmeg, cinnamon and… oh! The sweetness of the fruit is gone before I can say anything about it. It turns immediately bitter. What a shame. I like a bitterness now and then, but it should not dominate, which it does here. I got some hazelnuts and dried fruit, but I think the second cask was a bit to active. The finish is medium long, sweet and peppery, but dry. At the death I get the taste of warm cola (yes, I once left my glass in the sun too long and took another sip – I can strongly recommend against it). Around 30 EUR, which is fair for what you get, but it’s not really a sipper. Rather to be poured with a big chunk of ice while enjoying a bit of sunshine on your terrace.

Fruits and a note of papier mache covered by a little chocolate treat. In the mouth, correct, but an astringency adds to the solvated note, which unbalances the whole. Enthusiasm 2/5
Wow, for the price really quite drinkable, I'm very surprised, certainly not complex and one has the certain alcohol note, but it remains in the frame
Classic bourbon on the nose: vanilla, caramel, cherry, soft but still slightly alcoholic. In the mouth, unfortunately, quite thin and watery, at the same time a bit youthful and metallic. In the finish, the caramel notes from the nose and oak notes, which unfortunately are a bit too bitter and not aromatic enough. Length: 2/10 Overall, uncomplicated bourbon, which is a bit better than the standard and can also be enjoyed pure, but in the end it is too boring and immature. Note 3
Another release, which sounds good, but nothing more. Lots of wasted potential. Since I definitely prefer the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked.

I've tasted most of Jim Beam's core line. This one fits right after the Devil's cut for me which holds the first place for me from what I've tasted. (White Label, Black Extra Aged, Rye, Double Oak and Devil's Cut) N: The first note I am getting are cherries followed by cinnamon and some freshly cut wood in the forest. Then vanilla and corn sweetness. It has a herbal element with more wood and some toffee. The wood influence is big but not as strong as in the Devil's Cut. P: Starts off slightly thin but then vanilla and cinnamon hits your palate suddenly. Followed by the cherries and some red apples with oak and a slight hint of toffee or even dark chocolate. Overall for 43% it gets quite thick and mouth-filling, round and balanced. F: Definitely medium. Sweetness and some bitter wood notes but it's not that bad kind of bitterness it's the good kind. I actually like it. For 20-25 euro I think it's a great bourbon. Onto the next one.

Very simple whiskey with a ton of vanilla aroma
Strong aroma of Bourbon and corn. Taste with sweetness, oak barrel. Quite tough. It's a pity that it's not 43 degrees in Russia.

In itself, the ''Double Oak'' is surprisingly aromatic. However, one notices a somewhat impetuous youth, even if the double barrel maturation offers significantly more oak and vanilla than is usual from the ''White Label''. Nevertheless, he brakes something at the back, which noticeably spoils the drinking fun.
Has unpleasant dominant bitter taste which is not to my palate.

Slightly better than a pod
Certainly better than the standard white label and it is not expensive either, so it could be a real deal. Yet this is still below what I am able to drink neat...
Maybe it would work if they made it four oak? Just kidding. Might be better with cola than regular JB... If you're wondering about my way below average score for this, consider that it's just the usual JB (59 pts.) with some makeup. I prefer honest poor whiskey (let's say Valamo 5yo, 69 pts.) to dressed up poor whiskey.
typical bourbon, sweet, caramel, citric
