The Louis Michel holding is in the north-facing part of the amphitheatre, so this is among the last to be picked. It has a very fine muscular quality, fabulous fine depth of flavour, and huge weight to it, with a touch of liquorice and great energy. Some flesh on the bones and a long, rich finish. Jasper Morris, MW - Wine Buyer Picking began on Wednesday 2nd October for Les Butteaux and finished on the 8th. The crop was down overall by 35%, especially in village and Grand Cru. The wines underwent a long, slow fermentation without any lees stirring. Though we have long been admirers of this domaine, this is the first appearance for Louis Michel in our Grand Burgundy Offer.off without problem during vinification and in the cellar.

Sometimes “unimpressive” can be a compliment - it certainly could be for this bottling. Just an extremely solid product where you get exactly what you pay for. I can hardly imagine anyone buying this and ending up disappointed; just don’t expect anything out of the ordinary. As other reviewers have commented, it does need to rest a bit, but I feel that you don’t need to follow the “1 minute of rest for each year in the cask”-rule. It might be just according to my personal taste, but I’d say after 8-10 minutes and you can start sipping with good conscience.

Very fruity fresh, distinctly sweet, creamy and light aroma with just a slight hint of sherry influence. Slightly bitter in taste, also fresh, lemon cake, vanilla and malt. Very easy drinking whisky!

Fruity and sweet with toffee, honey and strawberries. Sherry notes are present but quite light. Not to complex and retains the glenmorangie character. light sherry note finish.

Pleasant to drink, nothing complex or heavy. It's nice that the BC character comes through properly, and the sherry finish doesn't just seem tacked on. A nice, simple standard.

After two very cask-heavy, independently bottled sherry maturations at cask strength, I poured myself this to give my taste buds a break. What a relief to simply enjoy a classic, commercial bourbon/sherry vatting. That alone deserves +1 point.

Нос	85	The nose is really lovely; you just need to give it time in the glass. Initially, the sherry influence seems rather shy and unripe, peeking out a little from behind a pleasant mix of first-fill and refill bourbon casks. But then floral notes and stewed orange peel slowly emerge. Truly inviting.
Вкус	83	Can you taste the 15 years? Probably not, as the rather dry sherry influence isn't yet perfectly blended with the sweet bourbon base. I suspect it was finished in Oloroso casks rather than vatting with full maturation, but that's okay. Lots of orange notes and spicy nuttiness on top of vanilla, caramel, and fresh summer fruits. Quite classic.
Финиш	84	Totally pleasant and even. The 43% ABV doesn't last very long; the orange zest and barley sweetness linger on the palate for a while.

Bottled: 19.11.2024 Overall, I enjoyed this whisky; it is easy to drink, quite sweet, and maintains a balanced spicy note. I had tried the older 12-year-old bottling it has been a long time, but as far as I recall, this one is very similar, though perhaps a bit sweeter, softer, and more rounded. While the nose offers exciting depth and complexity, the palate feels somewhat more one-dimensional and lacking in richness. The finish is satisfying, characterized by a lingering sweetness. The price is reasonable for a 15-year-old whisky I believe the 12-year-old sold for a similar amount so the price-to-performance ratio is quite good; it is worth trying, though one shouldn't expect anything radically different. Нос	85	As soon as I open the bottle, I bring it close to my nose; the initial aromas I detect are clearly those of dry, sweet, and dark fruits specifically seedless raisins and dried figs. After pouring about 4 cl into a Glencairn glass and letting it breathe for 15 minutes, I continue nosing it for another 10 minutes without swirling the glass by moving my nose closer and further away at short intervals. Here, I perceive intense aromas like molasses-like brown sugar, raisins, chocolate, a touch of cinnamon, cocoa, and a malt-derived scent reminiscent of a freshly baked, toasted cake, alongside sweet fruit notes such as creamy vanilla, well-ripened red apple, and ripe peach. Later, when I swirl the glass to liven up the whisky, spicy notes such as bitter oak spice, earthy white pepper, and ginger strike the nose.
Вкус	83	To prime my palate, I took a tiny, teaspoon-sized sip and let it coat my mouth; initially, it felt stronger than its 43% ABV, presenting an acidity reminiscent of citrus peel, some malt sweetness, and a matching spicy warmth. I took another very small sip to decipher its structure; it feels slightly oily on the palate, with intense aromas and a medium body, offering a drinking experience that falls somewhere between smooth and robust. I continued taking tiny sips over the next twenty minutes to pick up the flavors; unlike on the nose, I don't detect many sherry notes here. Instead, there is an intense malt sweetness reminiscent of cake and cookie dough, along with hints of cinnamon, distinct honey, faint traces of raisin and dried fig, a clear citrus character, and a touch of peach, accompanied by charred oak tannins, spice, black pepper, and ginger making themselves felt on the tongue.
Финиш	84	As I reach the finish, the whisky takes on a character that leans closer to the nose profile. Just as I swallow, there are faint notes of hazelnut and charred oak, which quickly shift into a malty sweetness reminiscent of toasted cake and cookie dough. Subsequently, a gentle warmth from black pepper and ginger settles on the mid-to-back palate. Exhaling through the nose reveals a fruity character featuring hints of cocoa, cinnamon, brown sugar, and distinct honey alongside notes of ripe candied apple, apricot, peach, and a touch of citrus. I can confidently describe the finish as long, with those sweet notes lingering for an extended period.
