Delicious single malt - but the price of currently ~ 300 € is absolutely unfamiliar.

Very nice and classic Tobermory with light sea and large Oloroso notes.
Price does not justify the quality, complexity, quantification of enjoyability is lower than comfort.

It's a good malt, but I was hoping for more given the key data and the price. For example, I prefer the 21 year old Oloroso Finish (WB104713).
The nose is dense, greets with familiar berry tones and red grapes. At the same time, the aromatic profile is more fruity, with predominant citrus (red oranges), and vanilla tones also appear. There are nuts and some dried fruits. Taking a sip, you can feel chocolate, honey, heather components, salted caramel and sherry dryness. Black pepper and citrus are also noticeable. Then the sample opens up with vanilla, toffee and neat floral tones. Despite the fact that the sample is complex and balanced, the feeling did not go away that it lacked brightness and pressure.
the sweetest of Ledaig's: nose: on artificial candies, on wood, on nuts, rianço, on the salty side mouth: salted caramel, dark chocolate, a raised oxidative side, the nut very present, crushed and slightly salty, now vanilla the standardized sherry side appears with baked and maderized grapes, on pearl oil, a lasting sensation final: quite long on the same markers with a delicate saline side, some sherry that goes on candied orange with grapes and soaked oak.

Copper coins in apple jam. First thing that comes to mind…
Left to sit for 10 minutes before tasting, was very excited the nose is super sweet and really lovely, the palate was dominated by big sherry and old oak for me that finished quite salty, malty, and dry.

On the nose, custard, vanilla éclair, Paris-Brest, chouquettes, slivered almonds, sugar pearls, sponge cake. The Oloroso gives body and imposes its mark, with dried fruits, grapes, figs, bananas, leather and caramel. Behind, some marine elements, limestone, sandstone, iodine and sea spray. Very soft palate, with spices, paprika, saffron, lemon, sea salt, a drizzle of vanilla. Yogurt cake with orange blossom. Perfect finish, on cereals, a little charcoal and earth, just enough. A few ounces of kelp on the end. the current price is absolutely not justified for what is offered. The nose is much too closed and on the palate and finish it is not particularly complex. Disregarding the price, it's a beautiful malt. However, at a blind tasting I would not estimate it by the age. It gives the impression that exhausted barrels were used here for maturation

Tobermory 23yo. 46.3%. Consumed at a blind tasting Dec 2020. Blind notes: Nice colour. Sherry dominant aroma. Milk chocolate and oak. Very chocolatey, some dates. Faint spiritous esters of pineapple. Chocolate raisins. Very nice. Faintest orange later on but this is a chocolatey dark fruits bomb. Taste is fairly light no more than 43% I would say. Chocolatey, tannic and dry. Not super-complex but it's deep and rich. Creamy and aged yet still has rough edges. My guess would be a Dalmore. Maybe Dalmore 18. Sherry-dominant. Faintest sulphur in the taste but nothing too bad (and I'm quite sensitive to it). A chocolate bomb of a dram that I would always enjoy but it's not quite impressive enough to be something I'd choose to have a bottle of at home. 3.55/85 Observations post-reveal: I've not had many Tobermorys so I was never going to guess this one. Maybe the faint sulphur was one hint towards this distillery. A nice dram but the space on my shelf for sherried whisky would be at least half the price.
Unfortunately, this bottling fell short of my expectations, also because of the price. Overall, of course, solid, complex, pleasant oak notes and recognizable sherry. But the finish doesn't make this whisky a high-flyer for my first impression. Perhaps, as is so often the case with Tobermory, the malt develops in the open bottle. But for the price, that's too risky for me and didn't trigger any impulse to buy.

The whisky is really good but nowhere near the price tag, classic salty, coastal Tobermory with the sherry makes it quite savory and umami. A bit mono dimensional and I was expecting a bit more.
