Personally, I enjoyed it more than Glenallachie 15 YO. Despite the low age of 10yo, the strength seems to be very good.

Glenallachie vatting is usually made up of 70% PX, 15% sherry and 15% bourbon. This 10yo is excellent. It's hard to decide between the CS and 15yo versions. I still have to explore it. For now, this bottling doesn't have a very wide range of flavours, but it delivers everything and more than it promises. Predominant notes: Hazelnut, chocolate, dates. Complexity: medium. A masterclass by Don Billy Walker Parera. 86 - 89 | Excellent

A series I'm trying to collect. I already have 5 to 10 of these in my collection, and hopefully I'll get the rest soon to complete my collection of this wonderful series.
An especially dark and dynamic batch. One of my favorites in this series.

| Нос | 88 | Lovely old-oak aromas. Dark and brooding. Cocoa, chocolate, coffee, leather, autumn leaves, a touch of wet forest floor / petrichor. But also floral notes, which lift it up and make it more airy. I love how well-integrated the wine casks are here: it really feels as if it's been matured exclusively in high-quality sherry casks. |
| Вкус | 86 | With the right amount of water, you get a great balance between lively fruity notes and darker, more settled, sweet-and-savory flavors. Juicy, full, and well-rounded. |
| Финиш | 86 | Herbal honey, dark cherries, bramble jam, licorice, dark chocolate. |
I really like this whisky, I also like they add an age statement on their CS version. It is not a complex whisky and I really don't know what Glenallachie's spirit tastes like because all of their whisky is spoiled with oak. If you like a modern whisky with a lot of oak influence this is a good choice.
Maraschino cherries, grenadine, cocoa powder, a bit of banana/vanilla smoothie, and a touch of eucalyptus oil.

Another excellent 10 CS. Typical Glenallachie nose, very fresh and fruity. Despite the high AVB very pleasant in the mouth and finish.

Another CS 'lachie from ronnholt. Rioja is my fav red, so I may be biased here. But that could just as well have backfired in disappointment. This hit the target. The magic of cask finishing.

| Нос | 89 | No doubt about the sherry, but there's more to this. Must be the Rioja casks that add another dimension. Very nice wood notes as a base. For every sniff I get more wine and less sherry, which not necessary is bad. Wood and wine combo make it more boldly floral than fruity. Not too complex, but it's different, and I really like it. |
| Вкус | 88 | Yes, the Rioja is there right from arrival. Nice! A short burst of peppery spice. It quiets down quickly. It's not got any complex development, a bit one dimensional and straight. But I don't mind as long as it's pleasing and interesting. Bold and rugged. |
| Финиш | 86 | Past medium length. A slight dry sourness breaking through the sweetness. Guess that's the price you pay for the wine contribution. It worked wonders on nose and taste, not as much here. Smoke hits as a weird last whip of the tail. |

Very decent especially given the price. A bit too much wood to my taste and lacks complexity. But hey, totally enjoyable dram
Appearance: Deep amber. Nose: Big sherry. Chocolate, raisins, wine, plums, brown sugar. Bit of oak. Palate: Sweet dried fruits, spices, vanilla and caramel. Dried cherries, sultanas, prune. Huge fruit flavor. Very spicy, also very hot neat. Finish: Oak, dried fruit, cinnamon spice. With Water: Tons more cherry and dried fruit, the alcohol burn gives way to magic. Overall: A huge sherry and wine bomb. Fresh, somewhat young, super fruity and spicy. Really delicious stuff.

Good blending to put many different cask favour in a harmonized way, but definitely the bases are not very well aged and lack of depth. What you pay for is Billy's blending skll instead of GA's spirit.

Nose - a whiff of subdued sweetness. Dried fruit, sultanas, apricots and figs dominate the foreground. A hint of flowers and cooked fruit, apples and pears. Baklava and cocoa babka. Cherry delicacies. Almond cream and walnuts. Plum jam and candied orange peel. A little apple pie with lots of cinnamon, sprinkled generously with icing sugar. A touch of varnish and wood. Some leathery accents and black tea. Sultanas in rum and dessert chocolate. Ripe, large red plums. Rosehip and rowan juice. Wardrobe of tools. Taste - cherry liqueur with stones. Dried fruit, apricots, plums and small sultanas. Dessert chocolate and blackcurrant juice. Spicy chilli and pepper. Caramel, vanilla pudding and milk chocolate with hazelnuts. Vinous tannicity and barrel bitterness. Dark grapes. A mix of exotic candied fruits with nuts. Hint of tobacco with americano coffee. Finish - medium/long. Spicy accents, chocolate, nuts, candied fruit and wine tannicity. https://whiskymylife.wordpress.com/2023/09/04/glenallachie-10-yo-cask-strength-572-batch-8/
This batch, however, is less balanced than its illustrious predecessor. While we still find the familiar notes of cherries and dark chocolate, the grape is significantly more pronounced, disrupting the balance and making it more wine-like. The finish is also marked by tannins and wood, with an unwelcome menthol note at this stage. Nevertheless, it remains a perfectly acceptable whisky with an excellent quality-to-price ratio.

GlenAllachie 10 batch 8 - color: mahogany, scent: dark chocolate, cocoa, oak, cherry, vanilla, marzipan, tropical fruits, light floral, cereal, ginger spiciness, coniferous, coca-cola, black tea; taste: dark chocolate with a hint of cherry (cherry in chocolate, jelly), cocoa, coffee, vanilla, fruit: pineapple, peach, minerality appears at the end (early finish); rather delicate finish (too delicate) which is a mixture of what is in the taste - 86.5
Exceeds expectations beyond price. Apricot, Marzipan on the nose. Taste Heather plus the above, but relatively medium long aftertaste. Benefits from being open for a few months. So compared with Batch 5 and not found wanting. Finish not as long and peat notes not found in 5. Now I find this more complex.

Blind Tasting Notes: Cask strength immediately appealed to my currently few receptors. I'm guessing Speyside and mid to late 50%. I'd say it's not a pure sherry maturation, but more of a mix, perhaps with bourbon casks or virgin oak. Estimated 10 years or so. Reminds me of GlenAllachie, so I say: GA 10y. Cask Strength.
Batch 8/9 Vertical Batch 8 Overall: "A spice bomb that pretends to be a heavy sherry bomb" Even if you add a little water to make the sweetness and sourness bloom more, the excessive spice is not well controlled. The spice of virgin oak is very strong. However, since the spice lasts for a short time in the taste and finish, I think it would be good to add a little water when you feel the spice is too much. If you add water to around 40%, it approaches the sherry balm style where the spice is almost controlled, but the watery feeling becomes stronger, so it may come across as a disadvantage. Total score: 85.0

| Нос | 87 | Batch 8: 87 Raisins / Apricots / Dried Figs / Nuts / Brown Sugar / Toffee / Licorice / Orange / Cloves / Nutmeg / Oak / Vanilla The nose is sour due to the rise in the buzz. In typical sherry chestnut style, the scent is mainly raisins, along with apricots and dried figs. The bitter and oily nuance of nuts spreads as if eating nut shells together, and the sweetness, like a mixture of brown sugar and toffee, is strongly felt. The sweetness is mixed with a little licorice nuance, making it feel even darker. The sourness of orange blends appropriately to balance it out, and the spice of cloves and nutmeg and the slightly dark oakiness create complexity without being too sweet or sour. The rich vanilla nuance adds even more richness to the scent. However, rather than being delicate, it is composed of a scent that hits strongly like a river shot. Batch 9: 86 Raisins / Dried Cranberries / Dried Apricots / Nuts / Lemon / Orange / Cloves / Vanilla / Oak / Cinnamon The buzz is strong enough to make the nose sour. It is a style of sherry chestnut with a lot of sourness, and you can strongly feel the sweet and sour scent of sherry mixed with raisins and dried cranberries. Nuances of dried apricots are mixed in and form layers, and you can feel the nutty flavor together. The sourness of lemon and orange is quite strong, making your mouth water, and there is a lot of spice of cloves. A bit of virgin oak-like woody scent is mixed in, and vanilla draws the picture in the base. Cinnamon is slightly hidden in the stimulation. Batch 8 vs. Batch 9: Both batches have a strong Sherry-Bomb style and a strong Buzz. When comparing the batches, Batch 8 has a slightly stronger raisin, honeysuckle, and oaky flavor. Batch 8 has a slightly heavier and more powerful punch. Batch 9 has a slightly lighter and more tart flavor. In particular, the tartness is slightly stronger with a hint of clove, so it has a slightly refreshing, carbonated pop. |
| Вкус | 85 | Batch 8: 85 Dried cranberries / raisins / figs / nutmeg / ginger / pepper / toffee / caramel / vanilla / orange candy / hazelnuts / cacao nibs / oak The impact is very strong from the beginning, and the stimulation feels burdensome. Even when I control the amount of drink and put a small amount in my mouth, it is so strong that I can feel the heat. As my mouth starts to burn, a very strong sherry nuance hits my mouth, and the sourness is emphasized quite a bit, so I feel the nuance of raisins mixed in half with dried cranberries. Figs are also added generously to add variety to the layers. As I get used to the impact mentioned above, the feeling begins to break down little by little, with the nuance of nutmeg as the focus, and the spicy and spicy taste of ginger and pepper spreads on my tongue and mouth. The sweetness is also strong, with a complex sweetness like toffee and dark caramel, and the sourness of orange is added, making it feel like orange candy. The richness of hazelnuts mixes together, and the bitterness of cacao nibs is felt, and a slight okiness is mixed together. Batch 9: 87 Raisins / Dried figs / Dried apricots / Orange peel / Dark caramel / Toffee / Cloves / Nutmeg / Ginger / Almonds / Hazelnuts / Dark chocolate / Oak Unlike the scent, it approaches in a rather dark and heavy sherry balm style. The sherry balm, which focuses on raisins, is strongly developed with dried figs and dried apricots, and a moderate stimulation spreads in the mouth. The sourness is slightly mixed to give an orange nuance, but it is not overpowered by the dark nuance of sherry and sweetness. Rather, I think it has changed into a feeling like orange peel as the bitterness is mixed in. The sweetness is also quite strong in the dark feeling mentioned above, and it approaches with dark caramel and toffee. As for the spice, it balances it out without being excessive, with the nuance of clove being the strongest and the nuance of nutmeg mixed in. The carbonation that pops like popping candy on the tongue and the spicy taste of ginger remain slightly. The bitterness is followed by the rich oiliness of almonds and hazelnuts, and the nuance of dark chocolate, along with the nuance of oak that has been soaked in a bit of sherry. Batch 8 vs Batch 9: Batch 8 has too much spice to it, making it burdensome to drink. It has a strong sherry balm style, and unlike its scent, it has a sweet and sour flavor and a pretty good balance, but the spice ruins everything. Sometimes, virgin oak CS whiskies can have too much spice, and Batch 8 has a similar spice. Batch 9 has a very dark and heavy sherry balm, and unlike its scent, the spice is appropriately adjusted to act as a balancer so that it doesn't become too sweet. However, it has a nuance that seems to be very buried in the dark feeling. |
| Финиш | 83 | Batch 8: 83 Raisins / dried figs / nutmeg / ginger / toffee / vanilla / tannin / cacao nibs / leather The finish is medium to long. Similar to the aroma and taste, it is a sherry-bomb style, and the burning sensation on the tongue lingers for a very long time. It forms a similar structure to the taste, with the sherry - spice - sweetness being the main focus, but the tongue feels slightly dry due to the slight nuance of tannin. The bitter cacao nibs are felt a little stronger than in the taste, and a slight leather nuance remains. Perhaps because of the strong taste, it gives a slight mineral and watery feeling at the same time as it goes to the latter part of the finish. Batch 9: 86 Dark chocolate / raisins / dark caramel / cloves / ginger / nutmeg / leather / tannin / vanilla The finish is medium to long. Similar to the taste, it is a sherry chestnut style with a lot of dark nuances mixed in, and starts with a dark chocolate nuance. As the sherry chestnut unfolds, a dark caramel-like sweetness is mixed in, and the spicy nuances of clove, ginger, and nutmeg are mixed together, which stimulates the tongue quite a bit. While forming a slightly popping candy-like stimulation, you can feel the tannin feeling that the tongue feels slightly dry. As the finish lengthens, you can feel the vanilla that formed the base. Batch 8 vs. Batch 9: Batch 8 has a similar finish to the taste, with a very long-lasting tingling sensation on the tongue due to the intense stimulation. Even though most of the other flavors and aromas have faded from the tongue and nose, the tingling sensation lingers, reminiscent of the spiciness that lingers after eating hot peppers. Batch 9 has a much more restrained tingling sensation than Batch 8, but it is still quite intense, leaving a strong dark sensation similar to the taste. |

| Нос | 86 | Apricots, caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, pecans, plums, dates, black gummy bears and a hint of leather. |
| Вкус | 87 | Apricot, apple, clove, raisin, plum, dark chocolate and coffee. Most beautiful part of this whisky. |
| Финиш | 86 | Medium to long: apricots, red apples, chocolate, raisins, coffee and some tannins that give off a drying sensation. Price / quality fine whisky. Not particularly exciting, but just a good sherried whisky! The alcohol is very well integrated. |

A lot of nice sherry notes in this one in the spice can be overpowering. A simplistic dram which benefits from water.
S 8 A Christmas dram. Not very complex, Sherry very much dominated the whole experience, but it does the job. This is one of those you can drink it neat without worrying. [83-85] I’ll get a bottle unless my bank account says otherwise. N 26 Rich sherry nose, very vinous. Dark raisins, figs, dates. Caramel. A whiff of sherry soaked oak. I know it’s cliché but I still have to say it smells like Christmas pudding. Alcohol very restrained. Water will surface the menthol and bring out a whiff of freshly cut grass note. Unfortunately also make the sulphur more noticeable. P 26 Punchy landing expected. Sherry forward with that viscous toffee notes from PX casks. Then rich dates and dark raisins again. Marmalades. Crushed peppercorns. Then nutmegs and cinnamons. Slightly drying oak with only a mild touch of bitterness. Slightly meaty towards the very end. Few drops of water open up the oiliness and ripe fruits. Dark chocolate as well. F 24 Mid finish. Drying oak spices and sweet fruits lingering. A touch of citrusy aftertaste. Vanilla pods. Charred oak.
