Airigh Nam Beist.

Very subtle and interwoven smoke. You can tell his age. Nice hints of chocolate and citrus flavors. Spicy. Christmas aroma. Especially in the finish. If it had a few more revolutions and thus a little more power in the mouth, it would be a mercilessly ingenious bottling.

A very complex and complex aroma that greets us with a lot of tropics (pineapples, bananas, etc.), field herbs, citrus fruits and dry wood, to which the influence of Oloroso barrels is gradually added: nuts, dried fruits and red berries. And you can hardly notice the smoke. The flavor profile is somewhat different from the aromatic one: on a large sip, there is still some ashy smoke, tropical fruits are also present, as are herbs with lemon zest, followed by mint and metol, black pepper and red paprika. The rather long aftertaste shows oak tannin and grapefruit peel.
The nose is a mix of farmy, peaty base notes with light citrus and pineapple playing the melody. I find it more peaty than smoky. The taste on this is remarkably savory with more of an elegant coal/rubber note. Nose - lemon zest, pine apple, sea air, earthy, farmy peat as a base note Taste - very restrained sweetness, it's more savory than sweet. The entry is like dipping into a warm bath of coal dust, maybe while wearing rubber boots, then the pineapple re-emerges from the nose, but now it's grilled, that's finished off with a mineral note, it teases a coffee note that never fully develops Finish - oysters roasted in a coal oven, slightest prickly ginger notes, you're left with lingering wet ash

The Ardbeg Traigh Bhan Batch 2 is a fruity, elegant Islay malt with soft smoke and harmonious citrus and vanilla notes. It has good complexity, with barely perceptible sherry influences. Compared to Batch 1, it feels slightly leaner on the finish and loses a bit of intensity towards the end, but remains a very enjoyable dram.

| Нос | 91 | Fresh and fruity for an Ardbeg. The peat smoke is soft and mature, allowing notes of peach, pineapple, lime, and candied citrus to shine. Vanilla, a hint of mint, and delicate herbs round out the nose. Only later do ash and a slight medicinal note emerge. . |
| Вкус | 90 | Oily and sweet at the start: vanilla custard, pineapple, peach, and hazelnuts. Then the typical Ardbeg peat smoke takes over, accompanied by soot, licorice, brackish water, lime, and peppery spices. Marzipan and resin round out the texture. . |
| Финиш | 89 | Medium to long finish, with licorice, citrus, peaty, and spicy notes. Vanilla, wood, and a fresh hint of mint remain present until the end, although the base seems somewhat leaner. With a few drops of water: Water intensifies the fruit on the nose and palate, slightly reducing the smoke. Peaches and apricots emerge more clearly, the finish remains sweet, with almonds, marzipan, and more intense herbs. |
The whisky offers a complexity that is second to none. Absolute buy recommendation.

I don't like it as much on the nose as batch 1, because it is less balanced and because the beautiful lemon is hardly there. On the palate, however, this bottling is wonderfully harmonious and balanced, almost palatable. Although I rarely feel like peat at the moment, I get along well with it here because the peat is strong on the aromatic side. For me this is not a rabid monster. It's not enough to be a gentleman either, but the corners and edges have already been sanded off. I hardly found the sherry influence. But I didn't miss him either. Not a candidate for purchase due to the price.

| Нос | 87 | Compared to Batch 1, much more restrained or closed for me. At the beginning tobacco leaf and some hay. Dry peat. Malty sweetness. Barley sugar. An increasingly intense note of motor oil or petroleum and a bit of BBQ grill meat funk. This petrol note partially overlays the other flavors for me. After standing for a long time, a hint of sherry-like fermented grapes flashes through here and there and also some walnut. It also has a bit of citrus, but only very subtle. |
| Вкус | 88 | Cool, tart, citrus-fruity. I would say grapefruit. Peat, algae, iodine. And a lot of campfire smoke. Also the grilled meat that I found in Batch 1 again. |
| Финиш | 89 | Peaty sweetness is in the foreground for me. Warming, slightly peppery. Here now also fresh citrus fruit. In addition, a lot of malty sweetness, which results in a good sweet-sour balance. Sticks to the palate like a syrup. |

Not a bad whisky if you don't look at the price, but nothing more. I drank and forgot. It’s unclear why you need to keep alcohol in barrels for 19 years to get “this.”

A nice dram but nothing special. Lacks character. I got lots of pineapple notes which I liked but it felt like the Ardbeg 8 watered down to 46%.

Re-tasting after 2.5 years. Unmistakably Ardbeg, even after 19 years with plenty of its signature smokiness. This quickly gives way to the cask maturation, likely due to the extended aging. Long maturation in (refill) bourbon casks reveals the typical and expected profile. The 46.2% ABV certainly packs a punch. The malt delivers exactly what one would expect. Nothing more. No surprises, no special characteristics beyond the distinctive distillery character. But is that enough for over €200 back then? Everyone has to answer that for themselves.

| Нос | 85 | The nose is surprisingly light, but the peat smoke is clearly there, and then some lemon oil. Lanolin as well. Smoked vanilla. Very enjoyable to nose, but not a lot of elements that can focused on. |
| Вкус | 88 | Alcohol level is just right, full and nice. Peat smoke, a little bit of barley. Sweetness is really low. Second chew brings more smoke, light espresso, chocolate milk, and then a crazy fruit cocktail with green grapes, mango, and kiwi. As it rolls off, the balance becomes a lot better. Third chew is drier, smokier, chocolate milk is still there, but the fruit is gone, and here it's very good. Light minty character, a little bit of ginger. |

I haven't tasted the first batch but I do like this one. The nose isn't just those typical Ardbeg notes, yes they are there, but there's more to it. There's also an almost elegant freshness and the medicinal note reminded me a bit of Laphroaig. On the palate, it's definitely Ardbeg what you get. But also here is way more to explore and after that it develops slowly into a long, satisfying finish. All nicely balanced.
Not a big difference to Batch 1 from 2019. Maritime grades come into their own here, however.

Great whisky. Soft, with an interesting aroma and pleasant taste. Compared to TB b1, he noted that b2 turned out to be drier, "oyster" and less berry.
nose: creamy, sweet, lemon vanilla, frank but delicate peat smoke, fruits on candied citrus mouth: the slightly watery peat, the alcohol a little short, the lime, almost fresh, spicy sweetness, a little salted caramel, the barn peat that suddenly arises, that's it Ardbeg is there, peppery spices, licorice now, it goes on the dry glue, the slightly dried marzipan, the resin, hazelnuts crushed, candied and sweet fruits quite simple on the palate in fact, but the scent of which swirls in the mouth with smoky peat, that which emerges from a pile of logs left at the entrance of a port, fleeting grassy touch, spray, candied sweet fruits, a little marzipan final: Refined peaty liquorice, spicy, lemony, slightly woody, caramelized and chocolatey for a monolithic finish that lasts. First contact. The drops on the hand that got onto them when the sample was opened. There was a great deal of smoke rubbed in the hands. A lot of smoke. The smoke in the glass was more reserved. Which doesn't mean he's weak. For 19 years he's very much there. Ok ... 10 minutes have passed since the last sentence ... and I am not able to write a normal note ... so from here on different. If you don't like smoky whisky, stay away. Can you taste this typical Ardbeg fresh sweetness? No! So not me. So not directly ... with a lot of imagination and the knowledge to have an Ardbeg in the glass ... maybe ... It's so complex that I can't take it apart. Sweet? Yes. Age? Definitely. Sherry barrel? I don't know ... yes ... It's so incredibly dense and, above all, nice to drink. I have come to the conclusion that I am a) too stupid to even begin to call a reliable grade and b) it doesn't really matter. The mouthfeel is really nice ... just the right mix of liquid and creamy ... very gentle ... The taste is unique in its complexity. It's fun and I want to drink more than the 2 to 3 cl that I just had in the glass ... The TB Batch 2 is very tasty ... After I had a lot of fun with him, let's move on to the tiresome subject of money. 220 + It's a house number and way too much money for a bottle of alcohol! This is how the real world thinks. In the whisky world this is the price that had to be paid at the time of dispensing to experience this taste, which I haven't had before. Alright for me.
Go ahead sharks sell + 20%, it's a good start We are on the same line between Batch 1 and 2, very nice. I preferred Batch 1.

One to smell, it really puts you in a good mood. Other than that, it performs like your average Islay malt: you get what you expect; not much more and not much less. Many notes have already been written, so I will spare myself that. It's a pretty good malt. But it doesn't really excite me. I wouldn't think it's worth more than €200. In my opinion, it lacks a bit of volume (not in terms of alcohol content) and depth.

Nose: Citrus fruits, a hint of mineral smoke, subtle wood and ash notes, salty with a pinch of the sea. Palate: Delicate smoke with a subtle ash note, again citrus fruits and salt, iodine and sea breeze... Aftertaste: Mild, smoky, ash, salt, citrus, slightly oily and mineral. Conclusion: I'm not usually an Ardbeg fanboy, but this bottling is right up my alley! Relatively subtle yet impressive.
An Earl Grey with a slice of lemon over the wide beach with glittering, white sand. A nearby campfire, from which only the aroma of smoked meat wafted, but the sound of crackling logs was drowned out by the rhythmic lapping of the waves. The aroma of damp, windswept, sharp rocks, and a salmon and pineapple skewer from the nearby fishmonger... This Ardbeg reveals a gentler, smoother, and sweeter side to the peat monster. Its teeth have been dulled by nearly two decades spent in sweet American oak; nevertheless, it remains an Ardbeg. The elegant one.

| Нос | 91 | Cautiously smoky, but nonetheless clearly identifiable as Ardbeg smoke. Fresh strawberries straight from the field - just leave the crumbs on, dirt cleanses the stomach, as is well known. Freshly squeezed lemon-lime juice with a mint leaf. A fine spicy aroma of tarragon, marjoram and chervil. If you weren't so keen to try it, you could sniff it forever. |
| Вкус | 90 | Mild and oily attack, which immediately lines the mouth with cold and ashy smoke. Sour lemon drops, some grapefruit juice. Floral notes, almond butter, custard, honey. Becomes increasingly dry, the peat smoke attracts even further. |
| Финиш | 89 | Medium to long, but in the end he runs out of breath in terms of the expected aroma yield. Smoked strawberries, menthol, dry wood, the substructure a little thin. |

Tasted with batch 1. Both noses are very good but the second batch is more complex with candied citrus and these resinous notes I love. Anyway, I could nose them for hours. They remind me my first encounters with Ardbeg (Ten and Corrywreckan) and what I loved in this distillery. As for the palate, the second batch wins again with its tarrier and dirtier palate. While I'm not blown away by its complexity, this Traigh Bhan is a very tasty malt. The aromas are very nicely combined, but you won't find the sherry. I am not giving any grades because I tried the whisky in Limburg at the Aquavitae. The environment, the distraction, the conviviality, etc. are simply too great for me at a trade fair to give a fair assessment. I don't remember the whisky as being "bad" though... However, it is not a gift either.

White Soft Sand When the first batch of this Traigh Bhan was released, people went nuts, because an Ardbeg with age statement – a lovely 19 years to boot – is not something you see every day. That batch will now set you back some 300 EUR already. This year, batch 2 was released and can – with some effort, it is true – still be found left and right. It’s a vatting of American oak and oloroso sherry casks. The nose is surprisingly fresh and fruit for Ardbeg, as if the peat – present, sure – seems to have ‘matured out’ as it were, giving peach, pineapple and limes the chance to shine. Some apricots and vanilla and only then some ashes and medicinal notes, almost as an afterthought. Finally I also get something that I can only describe as the small of a freshly opened pack of band aids. Nicely oily and immediately very sweet. Vanilla custard, pineapple and peach, but also some hazelnuts. Quickly some soot, liquorice and a big dollop of brackish water kick in. The smokiness remains rather soft, while mint gives it a fresh lift. The finish is medium long and somewhat drying on vanilla and oak. Mint has the last word. Lovely Ardbeg indeed. Everything is finely balanced and I’m very impressed, except for the price tag of 250 EUR. FYI: Traigh Bhan (say ‘tree-van’) is the name of the beach close to the distillery and literally means ‘white soft sand that sings underneath your feet’.
Great Ardbeg. Even better than batch 1. Reminds me at the older Bottlings.
